Governor N. N. Vohra, chairman, and members of Shri Mata Vaishno Devi Shrine Board today held extensive discussions with Dr. Devi Shetty, founder and chairman Narayana Health, with whom the Shrine Board has collaborated for running the Super-speciality Hospital Kakryal.

Governor had invited Dr. Shetty to visit Kakryal to enable on spot discussions about all outstanding issues regarding the growth of the hospital.

The meeting was attended Dr. E. Sreedharan, B. B. Vyas, Dr. Ashok Bhan, H. L. Maini, Justice (Retd) Permod Kohli and Maj. Gen. (Retd) Shiv Kumar Sharma, all Board Members; besides others.

The meeting expressed satisfaction over the functioning of the hospital in the past 19 months. It is relevant to recall that this 230-bedded hospital, set up by the Shrine Board, was formally inaugurated on 19 April 2016 by PM Narendra Modi. The meeting noted that the number of patients availing tertiary medical care at the SSH Kakryal has grown manifold and, keeping this in view, the need has been felt to further strengthen, expand and upgrade the diagnostic and treatment facilities to meet the emerging requirements of the pilgrims, people of the adjoining areas, the State at large and the Northern Region, developing it as a centre which provides excellent patient care.

Referring to the PET CT facility, Governor underscored the crucial need for expeditiously commissioning this facility for the benefit of the people. This facility, not presently available elsewhere in the region will, interalia, immensely help in early diagnosis of cancer. GKNN
