Seven out of eight accused in the Rasana rape and murder case were presented before the district court, Kathua on Saturday.

Trial of the eighth accused, a juvenile, is going on separately.

Advocate Aseem Sawhney, counsel of one of the accused, ASI Tilak Raj said, “despite the fact that the Supreme Court had transferred the trial in the case to Pathankot on May 7,  we got to know that the magistrate in Kathua was yet to receive any formal order to transfer the case to Punjab and the accused need to be presented before the Kathua court.”

“Accordingly, the accused were presented before the district court Kathua, where the magistrate said that he has not received any written order from the SC regarding transferring the case to Pathankot,” he said.

The district magistrate has fixed next date of hearing in the case on May 29, awaiting formal order from SC.  After getting a copy of formal order from SC, the case would be shifted to Pathankot where the trial would be held.
