At least 11 teachers in a Budgam school were placed under suspension on Saturday for remaining “absent”. The school with a 50 student enrolment has 27 teachers.

Officials said that 11 teachers posted in high school Humhama were found absent during an inspection by a joint team of the joint director and the deputy director, School Education Department, and the CEO Budgam.

The CEO Budgam issued suspension order.

The CEO also ordered stopping of monthly salary of three teachers in another school for “dismal performance” of students in classrooms.

"Out of 27 teachers posted in high school Humhama, 11 were ‘absent’. The absent teachers reached the school while the inspection was already underway," the CEO Budgam said, adding that the total enrollment of the school is around 50 students.

He said the joint team also visited High School (HS) Chattergam, HSS BK Pora, Middle School (MS) Wagoora in BK Pora and MS Kralkpora.

"During our visit to HS Chattergam the academic feedback from the students in various classes was not good in front of the concerned teachers. We ordered that the monthly salary of three teachers shall be stopped," the CEO said.
